Dupont Fractured Prune is No More

Yes, they are donuts, warm, yummy, fresh made to order donuts, and they are no longer available at the recently opened location of the Fractured Prune in Dupont Circle because they closed last week.
This leaves Krispy Kreme as the big kid left in the donut game, at least in the Dupont Circle area.
So where can you go to still get those fresh Fractured prune donuts? and Speculation as to why they closed in the first place… after the jump…
Have no fear, those with a real hankering for Fractured Prune’s distinctive donuts, and a car or the fortitude to ride the red line out past the beltway need only travel to the next closest location in Rockville.
Could all the construction on P Street have lead to the closing of this beloved shop, or was it the odd sporadic hours the restaurant was open? Our money is on the construction, which also seems to have been affecting other businesses on the block.
It’s sad. I really loved their donuts and that location was perfect.
They also had funny hours: When they started out they used to be open till the evenings, but eventually started closing in the afternoons.
As much as I love their donuts (especially the French Toast one) it’s not worth a trip to Rockville to get them.
