Rosslyn Central Place
21 09 2007
One of the key things lacking in the Rosslyn “down town” area is a central gathering place which distinguishes itself as a destination and event space for the area. The new Central Place development planed for the two block area surrounding the Rosslyn Metro Station bound by Lynn Street and Fort Myer Drive aims to provide just that solution.
One source of debate throughout the planning was the placement of the park – in the center of the block, or at the south end of the block. JBG’s plan now shows the park to be opposite the Metro Station, functioning as a “town square,” surrounded by pedestrian level retail. Landscape Architect Michael Vergason’s flexible plaza design allows for both daily enjoyment and large public events and festivals.
