PriceChecker: Kalorama Mansion

8 11 2007

Your weekly chance to take a stab at real estate appraisal. Submit your guesses in the comments and closest guess gets the PriceCheck crown for the week.

On Wyoming Ave in NW DC sits this lovely 8 bedroom beauty ready for the taking. But be warned, those 8 bedrooms only come with 5 and two half bathrooms, so you may have to be ok with your little rich offspring sharing bathrooms. It’s got a huge wine cellar and a rooftop patio ready for entertaining.

For the Realtor speak and another photo (with the scariest rug you have ever seen)…

Masterful renovation with utmost regard for Mediterranean Revival heritage. Substantial Kalorama residence with the finest finishes & modern technology. Embassy-sized entertaining spaces, 5 car pkg, chef’s kitchen, service kitchen, all new baths, 1500 bottle wine cellar, expansive roof patio, private back garden, fabulous lower level easily convertible to home offices.

Extra points if you identify the animal that gave its life to make that rug.

The Big reveal will be next Tuesday Afternoon… so guess away!

I think the two red roofed sections on either side are part of the house too! Thats a very wide row house, I’m guessing $4.5 million

And that rug is actually kind of cool. It’s bovine, no?

whoa–what a house!

I’ll guess $5.2 million.

And I’ll take a probably totally incorrect rug guess and say a donkey.

Cheating with Redfin | Redfin Corporate Blog (12:37:30) :

[…] While in general we believe that more information is better, we recently learned how the information on our website can be used for indecorous purposes. The winner of DC Metrocentric’s most recent PriceChecker competition used Redfin to look up the price of a DC condo, rather than make a guess. DC Metrocentric is a blog about housing and development in and around Washington, DC. We’re fans of their PriceChecker series in which they profile a property and ask readers to guess the price. After a few days, they reveal the listing price and a winner based on the closest guess. The property profiles are great, especially if the property has an animal skin rug. […]
