National’s Turf in Town

14 11 2007

What’s that you smell in the Air? It’s fresh grass, Kentucky Bluegrass to be exact, because the Washington Nationals just installed their new turf.

The New Stadium is nearing completion and one of the last (and most important) parts is the field. The grass comes to our Nations Capital fresh from Tuckahoe Turf Farm in New Jersey.

We saw the new stuff as we toured the new stadium yesterday but if you want to see it up close, you can head out to the ball field next year in March when the Nationals are going to give the field it’s first action in an exhibition game against the Orioles.

Interesting — the grass is dead in most other parts of the country.

Guess that’s why they have turf farms
