Holding Ground

4 12 2007

Since we just mentioned on Monday about another SunTrust property downtown selling out, we wonder how long it will be before this prime piece of SunTrust real estate is sold off. We here at DCMetrocentric have grown to love the timeless stone structure, with its arched windows, and green lawn. The branch at North Capitol Street and Massachusetts Ave has held its ground for over 50 years, hope it can keep holding on!

i LOOOOVE this building too! it’s such an anomaly, but it really adds character to an otherwise ‘tame’ part of the city. i swear it brings a smile to my face every time i pass by it…

It’s been a good decade, but I do believe that’s the corner bank where I’ve gotten cash after running up my bar tab at the Dubliner! What are the other lushes gonna do now?

I have always been a fan of this building - but would you ever guess that back in 1988 it was a Popeye’s fast food joint? Oh yes…it’s true!
