Great Streets: Anacostia
8 01 2008
Sometimes a little cosmetic change can make all the difference for a neighborhood. The idea that a few trees, new lighting, and nice sidewalks can be the catalyst for an area is the idea behind the DC governments Great Streets initiatives.
Anacostia’s MLK Blvd between Good Hope Rd and Suitland Parkway is a major throughway that could use a little sprucing up and help is not that far away. The District Department of Transportation has finally completed the Final Concept Report that presents some major street-scape improvements (sidewalk, lighting, roadway, materials, street furniture and finishes).
We must say these improvements are much needed for the area and from the renderings look great. After the final review period of the plan is complete, construction can begin, hopefully by first quarter of 2009. What’s that? You want more information? Click Here!
