Worlds Narrowest House
21 01 2008
No really, the world’s narrowest house is in our own backyard. The 350sf house can be found in Old Town Alexandria sandwiched between two other row homes.
The house is only 7 feet wide and was built in the 1830s in what was originally the alleyway between the two adjoining houses.
Talk about tight quarters, this house is smaller than even the tiniest efficiencies that builders are trying to pass off as apartments in the area!

I think the person who owns the house doesn’t acctually live there all the time, it’s a novelty type thing. The house was featured on the Travel Channel and I remember them saying that the owner has rented by the week to people in the past.
I wonder if the house gets lots of tourists taking pictures all the time?

I think there is another house in Philly that may be smaller. It’s near the cemetery where “National Treasure” was filmed.
Actually, that title is contested:

The W. Post did an article about the Old Town house in 2005:

I live in Old Town, and I’ve seen that house. Pretty crazy, huh? Even crazier is the amount of money that tiny house is worth…
I dunno..
