Thanks National Register!

Often times you get BuildingOnBuilding action as a result of developers building around/on-top of another not because they want to, but because an owner held their ground and didn’t sell out.

However more often it’s because the developers are legally required to save the building. This NW block has the old surrounded by the new, and we like it! Thanks National Register, for helping make our cities streets not just one long stretch of glass and concrete! [FlickrPhoto:army.arch]

Better than nothing I guess…

Wouldn’t it be nice though if instead of just having pretend facades these buildings actually came to life and supported functions other than bland office space? Independent stores, Residential, A couple of cute bars?!

yeah!
is office space *that* much of a premium in DC? is it the zip code, the area code, ????

if so, maybe dc could corner the market on ‘renting’ those out en masse to businesses that invest in the city.

just a thought. but i too am tired of office space, office space, office space. speaking of which, that movie was pretty funny…
