DoJ’s New Neighborhood

4 03 2008

According to sources, the Department of Justice will announce this week the location of their new 500,000 sf lease which will consolidate numerous other DoJ locations around the city.

We have a pretty good idea where it’s going to be and the Washington Business Journal reported this morning that many of the potential locations considered are within the new NoMa neighborhood. At least two other sites in the mix were located in the Southwest Federal Center, and one of those… Constitution Center decided to withdrew from the competition a few weeks ago due to delivery delays.

If a NoMa site is the winner, Justice will join the beautiful (please note the sarcasm) Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms  and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in a neighborhood which is seeing explosive growth! [Photo: AlbinoFlea]

Update: The DoJ has officially announced that they signed a lease at Two Constitution Square in NOMA!

So the new Constitution Center in SW still does not have a tenet since the DOT left for their new building by the Navy Yard?

i work next to DOT, and believe me, they’re still working on it. i doubt it’ll be ready for another year. if DoJ moves to NoMa, they’ll have to wait even longer, because there is no building ready for them yet.
