geez poo poo, you're making the triangle sound like southeast. I've lived a block away from the site for a little less than two years and crime has never been an issue... Once City Vista, 450 Mass, the Dumont etc come online I suspect that the "violent" crime in the neighborhood will be a thing of the past. And why wouldn't a boutique hotel take the risk of opening up shop there... so many high end restaurants already exist within a 10 block radius, not to mention the six figure salary that most people living in the neighborhood have. Most, but most definitely not me! :(

sorry, but i have to differ with galmeida on this one.

yes, we need chic boutique hotels in that area (let alone DC at large), but it's still a step up from a marriott, or one of the other myriad of crappy chain hotels that infest the district.

the hotels that solmelia runs in brasil aren't so bad. if they could bring a bit of 'international' flare to dc, i'm all for it. especially in an area that is still plagued by gang shootings, drugs, and prostitution.

there is no way in hell that a 'boutique hotel' is going to take a risk in that area, in this economy. although, given time, it'll blossom.

i'll take a sol melia over pretty much any marriott, hyatt, etc.

it's a fair compromise for now.
