GMU Virginia Square Campus

18 04 2008

George Mason University’s Virginia Square campus in Arlington is expanding! The project includes new academic buildings for the School of Public Policy, the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and student support services.

However the best part of the project is the new courtyard/quad that will cover a parking garage in between the new buildings and the law school! This public space will really make the smaller satellite campus have more of a cohesive feel and should also be a nice space for the community!

The thing that is really cool though is that GMU is handling all the design, architecture work, and site management… who knew that a University could also be a developer! They just started construction, and will be complete by 2010.[Design Drawing: GMU]
