Nationals Park Capitol Views?
7 05 2008Now that we’ve had the opportunity to see a few games from different seats in the new Nationals Park, we were surprised that the incredible view of the Capitol is basically only visible from a few spots in the stadium. As for the rest of the seats, you have 20 M Street Southeast to thank for your Non-Capitol views!

The ironic thing is that the view killing building was built by Lerner Enterprises when there was no ballpark planed yet. Don’t get us wrong, the higher density buildings will help this area become more than just a place to go during games, but those original renderings showed great unobstructed views, which would have been nice! Of course if those garages had been built underground, with massive commercial buildings on top, you’d have seen even less. (And the park would have felt, to my thinking, a lot more claustrophobic.) Maybe we dodged a bullet there.
Yeah but it will be amazing to have such a bustling corridor along Half Street right up to the entrance of the Stadium. It’s going to be a space where people will want to get somthing to eat before the game and hang out afterwards. I’m looking forward to Half street getting finished up, views be damned!
It’s 20 M St. *south*east
the city took a bullet to the head.
the whole stadium is a crime.
nice empty seats there too.
Even in plain view of the capitol, it’s nothing that special anyway, IMO. I’d rather have the garages underground, build some mixed use buildings and maybe light them up a bit or put some other kind of landmark up to get attention. Either way, the view isn’t that special even when you can see it when you’re in the upper deck.
Well there was supposed to be a landmark in the outfield in the first plans for the stadium, a big baseball I think was the design
