PriceChecker: Forest Hills

Maybe there is something in the DCMetrocentric watercooler, but for some reason we are really into contemporary architecture this week. Today’s PriceChecker is a ridiculous modern home by an AIA award winning architect.

Located in Forest Hill Northwest near Rock Creek Park, this three bed room 3,500 sq-ft home is a copper and steel sentinal that has all the new sustainability design elements. It was actually built to be the home for the architect who designed it.
So take your best guess and we will crown a winner next Wednesday afternoon, and should you need some more information to help you, follow the jump for the realtor spin and another photo of the slightly nautical other side of the house…
“In close proximity to Rock Creek Park, one enjoys a bucolic setting while also being only a ten-minute walk to Connecticut Avenue. This iconic house claims many sustainable features including the super-insulated glazing and the innovative use of copper and steel. The house comprises approximately 3,500 square feet including: three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, an open living/dining arrangement, perfectly outfitted kitchen, studio and laundry pantry. The public spaces are large and offer uninterrupted light from every aspect and the private spaces are intimate and inviting.”

From this side you can barely even tell what you’re looking at, or even the scale, but that small window looking thing near the bottom is actually the front door!

$7.1 Million, it must have a view
no way. i say 4.2 mil.
This is a lovely house, but every time I drive by it I wonder where the bathrooms are located. I mean, there is glass EVERYWHERE. And I am even “more windows” kind of person.
Also, could someone please explain to me why the house front is built around that tree? It’s not even that nice of a tree or one that will probably live all that long. Tree roots in the foundation is not romantic!
Okay, okay…enough grousing. My bet is $6 million.
What a fun game…
It only has 3 bedrooms… so my guess is $5,300,000
I like a lot of contemporary architecture, but… yuck.
$5.8 million.
Travis Price is selling his house?! Has he designed a new one?
$3,500,000
