Does Ellis Denning Suck?
12 06 2008It’s one thing to complain about your condo building to your friends and neighbors, but the folks at EllisDenningSucks.com have taken their griping to a whole new level… and we love it!

The site is only a few weeks old, but already they have managed to chronicle a series of problems they have experienced with their new home in the Fennessy Lofts built by Ellis Denning near Logan Circle. The problems range from the not such a big deal (doors that don’t close all the way and buckled wood flooring) to the very big deal (gas leaks and flooding).
It does seem like their efforts are paying off a little because they have gotten some response from the developers, but we still don’t think they will be registering WeLoveEllisDenning.com any time soon. The site is a must read for anyone considering the Fennessy (though we can’t imagine you will after visiting the site) or anyone else who enjoys a good well merited rant! not a lovely rendering either…
sounds so horrible! You move into a new building to avoid all these problems (which are common in older buildings)
Thanks, Amanda! I don’t even know ya, and I love ya.
this DennisElling site is more than a rant. it illustrates the risks people take on when they buy new and they have to go through a building’s shakeout period. every new building goes through this process and a responsive developer will be able to keep up. of course, if quality is built in then there won’t be many issues to contend with.
I suspect you will see more of this in the future. Developer are trying to cut their losses on condos, so they are taking short cuts and under delivering big time.
Let’s hope Ellis Denning and Co have enough money to fulfill their obligations, or that they have good contracts with the construction contractor (hopefully it wasn’t them). Ellis Denning’s principals, including Rich Ward II and Marc Weller have recently purchased units at Fennessy at prices higher than the last list price: 101, 202, 206, 806 (in May 2008 and July 2008). How strange and what does it mean?
Over at Logan Row, Eileen Fennessy Weller bought two units in May 2008 (Marc Weller may have bought another in Nov 2006), Ward bought a unit in July 2008.
Also note that there were some recent mechanics liens.
If they ED cannot meet its obligations, the condo association may have to pay.
Ellis Denning does suck! ED should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of Fennessy homeowners who are currently having many issues including rodent problems, floor damage and incompetent property managers that are not responsive one bit.
[…] It’s interesting considering Ellis Denning hasn’t been jumping at the opportunity to take credit for some of their other area projects recently. […]
hmm site is down, as of august 22, 2008. INteresting.
KEVIN ASH THE PRESIDENT OF CONSRUCTION IS RUNNING THE COMPANY IN THE GROUND .HE COULDNT MANAGE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A DOG HOUSE .THE WORST IS THE PATHALOGICAL LYING. HE INVENTED SHOOTING FROM THE HIP
Joe Carpenter, I cannot agree with you MORE!!!! I know the man on a proffessional level and I am telling you, that is the problem with Fennessy Lofts. Not to mention the design. Mr. Ash does not let other people contribute. It is his way or the highway. My suggestion Mr. Ash, shut up and take a Bell Leadership Seminar to find out what your problem is. I’ll save you the money. It’s your mouth and your arigant attitude that gets you into the problems you have. Oh by the way, stop stealing money from your subs to do work on your home. Just do us all a favor, MOVE FAR AWAY!
Chris Cando, Don’t forget Mr.Ashes many trips hunting in Canada, and Skiing in Colorado like every other week on company money.Mean while the contractors are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars.ED Is like Enron but the contractors are being shafted. Why do the other partners keep him????
it’s a shame that Ellis Denning successfully shut down EllisDenningSucks.com!
as a prospective buyer this was such a good source of information…
I guess we all have our price
if you live there, hit me back, I have lot’s of questions!
I feel sorry for the people who have closed on units in the Fennessy Lofts. It has a horrible reputation, the value of the units has depreciated dramatically and the problems that became immediately apparent upon construction completion (such as mold, use of shoddy materials, rodent infestation) most likely bely subterranean issues that have yet to surface. The overall advice to any prospective buyer is to stay far away from this rat-infested shit shack of a building. Fennessy Lofts is a cautionary tale of boutique condo construction.
I would be interested in reading the details on the Ellis Denning sucks website. Does anyone know why it was taken down? What are the complaints? I was in the process of selling a unit to a client, and I would really like them to have this info.
