NW Building’s Musical Lights

29 07 2008

We have mentioned in the past how much in love we are with 1110 Vermont Ave NW. The building, designed by STUDIOS Architecture, features interactive light and music displays by world renown artist Meejin Yoon that are just incredible.

For those that have never seen the building in person it’s hard to full appreciate how unique and interesting the building’s features are, but this video should give you a good idea. If you live in DC we recommend visiting at night with a few friends and making a symphony! [Video Credit: Ramblingovers]

God, it must’ve taken them a year to get that working right. Seems like they had a LOT of problems with the installation. BTW, IMHO, the article should be updated to reflect the fact that this is not a new building, only a new facade on an old one. Also, anyone know why they only updated a few patches of the old facade, leaving the rest intact? It really looks quite odd.

this was a project to re-position the existing building with a limited budget, not to fully replace the building. not sure how the final decisions on what to do came about (it was before my time here), but it’s serving its purpose - you’ve noticed it!

I thought it looked a bit odd at first, but now I’m used to it. Don’t you think you’re being a little hard on the building Sean? Its definitely quite an improvement to the 1100 block of Vermont!

Sean, the title is NW as in Northwest, not new
