First Look: Arlington’s Yaku
7 08 2008After years of sitting empty, the restaurant space on the first floor of the Odyssey Condos in the Arlington Courthouse neighborhood finally has an occupant. Javier Angeles-Beron, who also owns Gua Rapo a few blocks away, is opening Yaku which will be a Peruvian-Chinese restaurant, that’s right Peruvian and Chinese!

Now we have never heard of Peruvian-Chinese cuisine so we are really excited to see what type of dishes are served. The two story glass enclosed interior has a modern bright stylish look that we really like. Follow the jump for an exclusive shot of the interior…

This new restaurant will be a welcome addition to neighborhood and should be open by the time summer is over.

It looks like it is going to be very trendy inside, so I think it will be more of a lounge and drinks place, than foodie place for sure. Peruvian-Chinese sounds interesting, I can’t think of anywhere else doing this.
They must be confident in the product to call it YAKu.
Actually, Chinese/Peruvian mix is pretty common ( in Peru ) - the food/restaurants is called Chifa ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chifa ).
I’m sure it’ll be delicious, this is mainly just to assuage those who despise ‘fusion’ restaurants out of principle…
Good to know. Thanks
