Waterside Mall’s Foundation

3 10 2008

The new foundation of the Waterside Mall is back at ground level. With a metro station directly adjacent to the development, all the exciting projects by Nats park, and the Southwest Waterfront that area has some huge potential. As construction continues, we are really getting excited for the planned pedestrian plaza and the reopening of 4th street.

Anyone know what’s going to be in the mall once it’s built?

It’s not going to be a mall… It used to be a mall. Go to waterfrontdc.com.
It’s gonna be six buildings with approximately 1.2M sf of office, 1.2M sf of residential, and at least 110,000 sf of retail including a grocery store.
I don’t think any malls are going to be built in DC anytime soon. It doesn’t really fit in with the whole urban, smart growth, vibrant streets idea.

Check out updates on this project and the proximate closing of some parking lots for the construction of 4th street at www.swdcblog.com.
