Living Classroom at The Yards
21 10 2008Though the first phase of the Yards project near the new Nationals Stadium in Southeast is just getting started it’s not to early to start thinking about some of the highlights of the second phase and we even got our hands on some renderings. The Yards project will redefine Near Southeast with 250,000 sf of new street-level retail, approximately 2,800 new residential units, and 1.8 million sf of new office space.

This rendering by STUDIOS Architecture is of the proposed Living Classroom building which will be located along the Anacostia near the Navy Yard side. The Living Classroom’s mission is to benefit the community at large through education and hands-on training, and the design of the building strives to embrace and educate visitors and the general public through programing and exhibits.

Beautiful!
is there a schedule for this?
Looks good, I just hope that that many people will be outside enjoying themselves out there. I hate renderings like this that get your hopes up and then in person it’s desolate. Hopefully there will be some nice, year-round attractions in that area, along with lots of residential.
fyi, it’s “STUDIOS Architecture,” not “Studios Architects.”
thanks for the press, though!
FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY- we got a great looking building in DC. No shoddy neoclassical crap, and not another attempt to do modern with brick to satisfy the traditionalists.
I have no complaints…the renderings looks amazing. To top it all off, its a civic building we can all enjoy rather than just another condo or office building.
the rendering is of… umm… an event with the actor’s studio with john malkovich.
actually, they should have added more people…..
