Arena Stage Exterior Goes Up
24 10 2008The gorgeous flowing new Arena Stage being built in Southwest is getting closer and closer to being complete. The exterior of the new section is now completely up and the supports for the glass canopy lobby over the older section are now in place. The orange framework you see in the photo is a cantilever support system for the curved walls that we’ve never really seen used in this area.

Anyone know more about this construction method?

for cantilevered walls, see the National Museum of the American Indian.

oops…Arena Stage!
www.swdcblog.com has some great articles and photos of Arena Stage.
Didn’t realize there was an invitation for people to Pimp their blogs…
Guys try and link to a relevant article, not just your site and you won’t come off so bad.
That looks like formwork for concrete. Are you sure it’s permanent structural support? I don’t see anything that looks quite like that, although the concrete tub will be hidden…
The saying is that with concrete you have to build the building twice.
Sorry, Sam, no desire to be pimping. But a clever and interested reader would like to see everything on a new development blog from a different angle. If DCmetrocentric feels we have crossed a line, feel free to delete our post.
But for those who remain picky: http://swdcblog.com/search/label/Arena%20Stage
(a pretty easy kill for anyone who blogs–just click on a label)
sam, if you insist…
