1801K Construction

4 12 2008

Have you been down K Street lately? There sure is a lot of development going on… and in some cases not enough, but the refurbishment of 1801K is looking great!

All the work is being done while some of the building is still occupied including the Borders Books.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill  designed the new glassy exterior look which is being hung from existing structure already in place without much additional work needed. Though some reinforcement was nessicary to be able to hold the additional weight of the new curtain wall system. Since the glass is being hung over the existing facade and the floors extended an additional 7 inches, the building is actually growing by about 650 feet per floor. Talk about maximizing your space and looking good at the same time!
