It’s What’s Inside that Counts
11 12 2008We spend so much time focusing on the exterior of buildings around here and we sometimes forget that “it’s what’s inside that counts.” With that said we will be bringing you more interior design renderings from up coming and completed buildings in addition to our borderline obsession with exterior renderings and construction shots.

To kick things off we bring you the brand spanking new offices of RTC Relationship Marketing (RTCRM). The design was conceived locally by the Georgetown office of architectural firm HOK. The concept centers on ”open space and urban planning design and its commitment to sustainable communities and building environments.” That sure is a lot of words to say that it’s green and there is a bunch of glass.
The building is LEED certified ready and 75% of the demolition and construction waste was diverted from area landfills to local recycling facilities. We really like the color scheme and clean lines, though is the “open” work environment getting a little overdone these days, or is it really that much better for workers? Another shot of the second floor after the jump…

There’s an awful lot of typos in that post. LOL
In answer to your last question, no, I don’t think it’s overdone at all. I actually work in an office with a more open layout like that and I like it a hell of a lot better than our old one. This one is ever nice than ours, though - looks superb. Our big problem is that we’ve got a well-above-average office in a mediocre building.
The problem I have with working in an open office space is what to do during those times you want to have a private conversation with a co-worker or on the phone, there is never anywhere good to go and I find people are often on their cell phones standing around in the hallways. Not very productive.
