Nathans Uncertain Future
24 02 2009The future of venerable Georgetown retaurant Nathans is still up in the air as the end of their lease in March fast approaches. We checked in with the dinning institution which has been around since 1969 and apparently they expect to have word on the final decision only a few days before the lease ends.

This has to be one of the most prime storefront spaces in Georgetown so we understand the premium, we just hope they can make it work! We will be sure to keep you updated. [Photo: MV Jantzen]

i used to live a block away from there (in a house i purchased in 1998). man… i can remember as late as 2004 running over there to buy cigarettes from their machine by the bathrooms at around 2:00 a.m.
i can’t believe it might go. that place was awesome. at one point, i stayed around and danced with ambassadors and their guests (from several latin american countries)…..
if that place goes, georgetown goes.

Nathan’s is more than just a place to grab food for those who live in Georgetown, I have really enjoyed the Q&A Cafe and the lively speakers it has brought, I hope they manage to stick around for a few more years at least. That area doesn’t need another Banana Republic replica or chain restaurant on that corner!
