Park Morton Moves Forward
5 03 2009The plan for the revitalization of the Park Morton neighborhood is moving closer to reality. As we mentioned last year, the District is planning on picking a developer for the project and now we know the three teams who have thrown their hats into the ring.

The revitalization along Georgia Ave is part of the District’s larger New Communities Initiative. Funny enough two of the proposal teams are calling themselves Park Morton Partners. The first includes: Pennrose Properties, FM Atlantic, and Harrison Adaoha. The second includes: The Neighborhood Development Company and Community Builders Inc. The last team is calling themselves Park View Partners who include: Landex Corp, Warrenton Group, and Spectrum Management. You got all that straight? Each team will have an opportunity this Spring to present their proposals to the public.
We do know that the one common element among all the proposals will be the replacement of Park Morton’s eight, three-story buildings to build at least 500 units of mixed-use housing surrounded by a public park. We will be sure to keep you updated when we start to get the proposals and renderings.
