We Like To Party Pt 1
23 04 2009No it’s not 2007, but you would think so with the grand gala the folks at the new Allegro Apartments threw last night. The party featured music by Brian Liu of The Yellow Fever DJs, who you may recognize from the Eighteenth Street Lounge, oh and a little group called Thievery Corporation. They even had a specialty cocktail - the Velvet Allegro.

There was plenty of booze, passed hor’devours and though there were tours of the gorgeous wood and steel toned property… it seemed most were more concerned with enjoying themselves. Given the price tag on some of the Columbia Heights units (upwards of $3,875 for a 2-bedroom penthouse) we can understand the need to step up their game, and if last nights party was any indication, they did just that.
According to the people we spoke with, they have signed pre-leases on 10% of the close to 300 units. Now you may remember that a long time ago this development (like so many others) was going to be condos. Given the size of this project, we can only imagine how much difficulty they would have had selling all these units, but as a result many of the units have much nicer finishes than you would get in a typical apartment. If living at the Allegro is anything like going to one of their parties, sign us up!

I was there too! The lobster was freakin amazing! I was wondering though how many people were actually there who wanted to move in, it didn’t seem like that many to me.
The way I see it, they would have to throw a party once a week for me to move in that building.
It looks nice, but it’s not that close to a metro is it? Those prices seem like what one would pay to live on top of a metro station and near more stuff, not 5 blocks away from everything.
I used to live half a block from the building (halfway down Meridian Place). It’s not that far from the metro at all, really. There’s plenty to do within a block or two of it and more coming into the area every day.
Effy:
3 blocks to Columbia Heights metro, 2 short blocks to DCUSA.
