CFL Builder Selected

8 05 2009

The District announced this week that Whiting-Turner has been selected to actually build the $133 million HOK designed Consolidated Forensic Laboratory (CFL) in Southwest. To get an idea of what the building will be used for, just think of an episode of CSI. According to Police Chief Lanier, “The officers of the MPD look forward to the Consolidated Forensic Laboratory bringing them these advanced forensic tools.”

The CFL will be built on the site of the former MPD First District Headquarters, at 415 4th Street, SW in Ward 6.  The First District recently moved to the former Bowen School in southwest, paving the way for demolition.

Does anyone know if they will be moving the forensics lab on V Street to this location as well?

That’s pretty frigging cool for a police forensic lab. I wonder if any of them will drive a Hummer and talk in a slow monotone voice.
