An Alternative G and 10th Street

It looks like the “oasis” design that we love so much (sarcastic) wasn’t the only idea in town when the architects Cunningham | Quill were designing the new building for 10th and G St. There were overĀ 12 different form models, some of which look fairly tame compared to the final design they ended up going with.

More like a holding pattern, they have the hole dug, and it is financed, but no tenants, other than the church on the first floor.

This building’s lack of engagement with the street, combined with the library’s daily coterie of homeless people, will keep this block from being vibrant. Interesting idea of an urban oasis above the homeless people…
