Union Place’s Facade
20 08 2009The massive mixed use Union Place development in NoMa just north of the H Street corridor is well underway as you can see and the facade is starting to come together. This first phase of the project includes 200 out of the 700 planned residential units and is going to have a nice street-scale row house brick look on the first few floors.

This first phase of the complex is going to be called the Loree Grand, named after the long time Northeast resident Mrs. Loree Murray who’s a well know community leader and activist. We are interested to see how this thing ends up looking. [Photo: Coller]

Why doesn’t the lower level have any brick up yet, but the upper levels do? Very strange!
cuz the builder is dyslexic.
btw, the place actually looks better than i thought it would… even with the light colored brick.
I hope that this will integrate well into the neighborhood. This is massive compared to the modest row houses lining the surrounding streets. I don’t want to lose the “neighborhoody” feel by bringing in large-scale modern architecture and big garage entrances. That said, I do like the visually interesting condo buildings at 2nd and H, and there is plenty of vacant land in the area. Has anyone seen a rendering of this project?

all that land on 2nd and H has been purchased and has plans (except for the south side of the block with the liquor store).
they should be breaking ground on them in the near future, once they get their ducks in a row.
