The Other Night Skyline

29 10 2009

We’ve known for a while that the skyline of Rosslyn is in for some major changes over the next few years with projects like Rosslyn Central Place and Moore Street redefining the view. This rendering really gives you a good idea of just how much taller the new buildings are going to be than the surrounding current structures. The views from the planned observation deck in Central Place are going to be amazing!

1812 N. Moore isn’t even in the rendering. It will make the skyline a lot better, I hope these projects start to rise soon.

how long until they get some real skyscrapers over there? Might ruin the historic views from the Mall though…

Right now the historic views from the Mall include ugly 1960’s and 1970’s architecture which I think portrays a much less appealing cityscape than any modern building ever could. Something happened during those two decades that I can only speculate on, seeing as I wasn’t yet alive…but it certainly wasn’t the golden years of architecture and engineering. I don’t see how some people equate tall with ugly, but to each his own. I wish they were taller still or more slender.

Anyone else notice how so many buildings in Rosslyn get built in twos?
