2010 Most Endangered Places

15 05 2010

This years just released list of most endangered places in Washington certainly has some important additions, but most notable is who the DC Preservation League left off. The brutalist Christian Science Church, which had been on the list for the past two years running, wasn’t included this year. We hope the news of pending demolition didn’t make them think it was a lost cause (though we will be happy to see it replaced!).

The sites on the 2010 list of Most Endangered Places in Washington are: Anne Archbold Hall, District of Columbia Historic Firehouses (pictured on N Capitol Street), Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, and 2228, 2234, 2238 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE and 2253 Mount View Place, SE located within the Anacostia Historic District.

Wish they would do something with that firehouse already. A local developer is basically holding onto it trying to sell it for a ridiculous amount after the city basically gave it to him.
