Approval for Updated H St Corner
5 10 2011One of the busiest pedestrian intersections in town is one step closer to finally being redeveloped. Earlier this year the building at the corner of H and 7th street NW in the heart of Chinatown was pulled out of foreclosure by McCaffery and Douglas Development and the latest plans got the thumbs up from the Historic Review Board.

As you can see it is certainly smaller than some of the previous plans, but any progress towards filling back up the boarded up street retail on that corner is a step in the right direction in our book (as long as it isn’t filled with a bank).

As long as it isn’t filled by a bank, Starbucks or CVS. Oh, and no more cell phone stores.
Any more details available? I’d be happy if the CVS came back.
Why on earth would the CVS need to come back? You can barely cross a street in DC without tripping over a CVS. There are at least 3 CVSs within a 6 block radius of this intersection; that’s more than plenty.
I always thought that this intersection would be an ideal location for an Apple store, but I don’t know if they’re looking to to move forward with another DC location.
The design looks ridiculously boring… That street corner has the potential to be something really special… ugh
@ Ben
Where are these 3 CVS locations within the 6 block radius
North of the site nope
South of the site nope off of E street more than 6 blocks
West of the site nope off 14th street more than 6 blocks
East there is one at the corner of Mass, 4 and H street which is within 6 blocks so where are the rest?
A CVS would be good due to being a place where you could get a variety of things medicine, beverage, personal needs etc it being near a Metrostation means that people going to/from Metrorail or Metrobus can get to it easily not like many other locations.
As for an Apple store the best location would have been where the AT&T store is.
