Under Construction: SkyHouse
29 02 2012Urban Atlantic and The JBG Companies have been making a lot of progress down in SW on their redevelopment at Waterfront Station and now the project officially has a name… the Sky House. The current structure has been completely stripped down to its core and is getting ready to be transformed into a 266 unit residential building that is apparently the tallest in Southwest.

When complete, Sky House residents will enjoy some pretty impressive views from a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Of course there will also be a rooftop deck and pool, and the building should be ready to open in early 2014. The second phase, Sky House II will commence construction next Spring and features 12 floors and 264 residences. What do you think of the name?

This name is better than most of the names of the apartment high rises down there! Axiom?
The name is down right awful! Seriously, are they crazy, this isn’t some futuristic society from a syfy movie! Name it after a community leader or something from the history of the neighborhood from before the pace was turned into an “urban renewal” project in the 70s and 80s
+1 on the bad name, is there any reason behind the name, seems so random and out of place in SW

I like it. It seems very George Jetson-ie and fits with the mid-century modern architecture of SW.
Only in DC would a 12 story building be named SkyHouse. Yeah right..
