BreakingGround: Lumber Shed
25 06 2012After what seems like years of the old Lumber Shed standing as nothing more than a shell along the Capitol Riverfront in Near Southeast, work is finally underway to transform the old Navy yard building into a glass retail and restaurant pavilion. Once complete, the 30,000 sq-ft. glass pavilion will have five restaurants and the second floor will house some offices for the developer Forest City.

The project is now on track for opening up next Summer including the recently announced NYC import restaurant Osteria Morini. With the new residential and restaurants opening in the currently under construction Boiler Maker Shops, this area is going to be hot come next summer! [Rendering: Forest City]

I’m really looking forward to having another waterfront destination for dinning inside the district!!!
I like it exactly how it is right now, and will regret losing what is now a near perfect public space minus lack of public restrooms. . . but I’m SURE Osteria Morini won’t mind letting my kid use their bathroom
Not only the bathroom will be an issue, PARKING! People will have to PAY to park just to eat there? Not to mention, there will be 8 other restaurants in the area. Parking is going to be a pain in the arse, unless you take the metro. Sure, you will get a valet, or parking validation. But, this place is so popular, yet, parking is going to be an issue even when there are game days. What to do what think? Hmmm I wonder how the plans are phased out.
