Northeast - Looking for Something to do with Dad today… how about Artomatic? Today’s the last day of the month long exhibit.  [Artomatic]

Southeast - Freelon Group Architects have updated their renderings of the new Anacostia Library and the new design features a giant “A” as part of the facade. This thing is starting to look very iconic.  [AnacostiaNow

Northwest - The District experienced some major power problems on Friday affecting everything from the Metro to street lights and we hear that some residents are still experiencing issues.  [InShaw]

Southwest - The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s building at 7th and D is up for landmark status. We’re not so sure this is the type of Extreme Brutalism Architecture that the city needs to be preserving, but we have always liked the Martha Schwartz designed alien saucers up front. [GGreaterWashington]

Silver Spring - The old Flower Theater is no longer being used as a church and is back on the market, perhaps it could be used as an AFI annex… one can always dream right? [Silver Spring Singular]

Penn Quarter - Extremely good roundup of the future of downtown’s Homeless situation, including the futures of the Franklin School, Gales School, and the Tubman Shelter. [PennQLiving]

H Street - Ice Cream Shop and Latin-African Fusion restaurant coming to the 1300 block of H street.  Just don’t ask us what type of food they will be serving, we will leave that to the comments section over at FT. [Frozen Tropics]

Penn Quarter - Nando’s Restaurant has got a liquor license permit up. However the hearing isn’t till July and the interior is still unfinished drywall and exposed brick, so the wait continues. For some reason whenever we see the sign for Nando’s it makes us think of a Nintendo game, maybe it’s the red font color or the crazy cartoon chicken! [PennQuarterLiving]

Shaw - Sign a petition to help keep the City Market at O project moving forward. Whether or not you like the area’s Giant, we say variety is the spice of life, plus as we have said in the past, that building is just too cool looking to let sit around empty for much longer. [LifeinMVS]

Anacostia - Is there any specific reason to carpet exterior stairs, or is it just for looks? (trying not to judge…).  Just be happy they chose green, we’ve seen those outdoor carpets in other colors too. Believe us, red carpets only look good in Hollywood! [AnacostiaNow]

Bloomingdale - Rowhomes on North Captitol Street and Hanover Place NW are slated to be demolished.  These buildings don’t appear to be in any worse shape than a lot of other vacant row-houses in the city… unfortunately when it gets to this stage, there isn’t much that can be done. [BloomingdaleForNow]

H Street - Sticky Rice opening soon on H street. Who would have thought that mixing All American tater tots with a full sushi bar… would work?  Well the nice looking outdoor seating sure won’t hurt!  [FrozenTropics]

Blogs in the Hood - It’s a beautiful day in the bloggerhood when potential D.C. homeowners or renters can scour the Internet to find answers to almost any question they might have about their future digs. Don’t know how we forgot to mention this, but the Express filed a great report on neighborhood blogs, and they quoted DCMetrocentric a bunch of time in the article too! Who knew people loved Pricechecker so much? Giants on WisconsinThe long-awaited Giant grocery store and surrounding redevelopment, expected to bring life back to its location on Wisconsin Avenue near the National Cathedral, is a bit closer to becoming reality. DCMud reports on the project which aims to make the stretch more pedestrian friendly and we think it’s about time they replace the G.C. Murphy Co which has been vacant for years! [DCMUD]

Art Deco Teeter - The Harris Teeter in Adams Morgan celebrated its grand opening with a star studded (for DC) ribbon cutting ceremony for the store. The project which has been a long time coming was welcomed to the neighborhood by the Mayor as well as Ward 1 Council members. Do you think they will let us roller-skate down the aisles for old times sake? [DCist]

The Teeter Effect - I don’t know if any of these Tajma Teeters will ever be a routine grocery stop for me, but it’s exciting to have them in the city, and hopefully they will inspire other grocers (Safeway and Giant) to take a hard look at how they do business. With new Teeters coming to NoMa and Capitol Hill, it is going to be harder and harder to ignore (and avoid) the fact that they have the best salad bar… and pretty good soup too!  [RenewShaw]
